Great
Scratch Shoot Out!
2007 winner - Gloria Mason |
February
2008
I
open this month with an invitation to all techs that love the internet.
I know there are loads of you out there surfing various industry sites
and cyber-living in organised nail communities where information, networking
and education prevail. So if you love living in a virtual nail world
– read on. Knowledge of this computer phenomenon erupting throughout
the nail world, coupled with an invitation I took up to join Facebook
just four months ago, gave me the idea to start up a funky Facebook
Scratch forum – and so I did last month. Realising that Facebook
cultivates a host of nail techs looking for networking possibilities,
I decided it was a most excellent little brother for Scratch .
A forum where people can be frank, have fun, interact, meet people,
get information and talk directly to the media - now that seems like
a great idea to me! So please feel free to log-on and join the Scratch
online nail fun Facebook forum – it’s
waiting to meet you! This month please turn to page six and read the
news story headlined
Law and Order . MP Dr Phyllis Starkey is asking techs to come forward
and discuss their experiences and offer opinions on the subject of MMA.
Starkey will be presenting new legislation to the House of Commons on
12 March regarding the regulating of nail bar/salon operations. (This
will bring the rest of the country in line with legislation that is
already exercised across London.) This should send fear sizzling through
the bones
of techs that know they are operating unskilled or with sub-standard
products, however for the rest of you, this is wonderful news - so please
support Starkey in her mission and offer your expertise to the cause.
For
all arty-techs that love a reason to create a
stunning nail scene - The Great Scratch Shoot
Out!2008 is on the horizon. As before, there
is no theme - just make sure the image sports
nails, hands or feet - the entry cost is £20 - all
entries will be mounted and displayed in a photo gallery at The Nailympics
London on 18-19 May and the winner will be announced at the Nailympics
awards ceremony from 3.30pm on 19 May. The closing date for entries
is Friday 2 May. To get your hands on an entry form please call the
editorial team on 01959 547 000 or email me on
alex.xx.fox@gmail.com and
we will get one
out to you pronto!
Looking forward to spring – see you then!!
