Editor's Letter

May 2008

Welcome to the Scratch May issue - our 5th Birthday issue! Yes - Scratch in now officially five years old!

We could not let this exciting milestone pass by without marking it in some special way and so the team has chosen a variety of ways to remember May 2008.

Firstly the magazine has had a facelift. Designer Jess Wilkie has been feverishly busy this month rejigging and refreshing Scratch to give it a lighter, more modern appeal and therefore give you a new and more inspirational journey.

Another way we are celebrating this special time is by offering limited edition Scratch Rocks! t-shirts with exploding polish illustration across the back. On sale from the Scratch stand (D25) at Olympia Beauty, these groovy shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, as only 500 will be printed. And what makes these t-shirts extra special is that Scratch is pledging all profits to charity. Yes, that's right - we have chosen the McMillan Nurses and the NSPCC organisations to share the profits between, so don't fall off your chair when you hear that the price is £9.99 plus p+p. So give us a call after 20th May.

Saving the best news until last, I feel the most exciting way Scratch can truly celebrate its 5th milestone is to give birth - and yet it has. This summer will see the launch of Scratch Australia/NZ, a publication in its own right that sisters Scratch, yet services the extremely productive and happening nail markets in Australia and New Zealand. Currently this is all the news I can offer, but watch this space as all will be revealed soon!

May has to be the craziest month in my diary as its now just a few weeks until the Nailympics London (there's still time to register - so logon to www.olympiabeauty.co.uk and click on the Nailympics section to download an imformation pack and registration form. If you have any trouble, then please call the organisers office on 01959 547000). Then there's the deadline for The Great Scratch Shoot Out! 2008 this week, and so it's all go in my office.

I really hope to see you at Olympia Beauty this month, I'll be located in the Nailympics arena so come on down and view the proceedings and enjoy the Mixed Media boxed displays. The rest of the team shall be found investigating the nail companies as well as mooching on the Scratch stand in case you have a story that you'd like to share with us! By the way, don't forget the Nail Stage, it has two days super, free demonstrations on it - see pages 36-37 for details of who is showcasing.

I feel a spring in my step!
