Editor's Letter

August 2008

Education and training is the issue that affords much discussion and attention in the industry. All figureheads and industry experts agree that you cannot get enough of it. You never stop learning, you never know it all and therefore a thirst for knowledge is an appetite for success. Every tech I have ever met and every figurehead and expert has always told me - you must never stop learning, you cannot sit back in the salon and work for 20 years without brushing up your skills. Times change and so do products and services. They evolve as all things do. They get better, more refined, simpler, they improve and always offer more than they did before. The point of change is to offer something powerful and effective. Heightening your skills means you can raise your your prices and stand tall and proud as you know that what you deliver is second to none.

Therefore on this subject, Scratch delivers to you its EDucation and Training Special Issue. Not wanting to deliver only educational material this month, Scratch also offeres a fine blend of features and ideas as you might expect, yet peppered throughout this issue you will find interesting nail schooling ideas and places. There are new academies appearing all the time, so take a look at what is on offer and then dissect the various courses available - they all promise to enhance the skills you already hone as well as bring new skills to your table.

Why not devise a plan now for 2009? You know next year you need a holiday, we all do! But why not also work out your training needs? Get those skills brushed up and offer a new service - make 2009 the year you won't be standing still! Don't let the credit crunch get you down, make it a year that you and your company metamorphosise into a dynamic new salon force to be reckoned with - impress your clients and give yourself a boost! You simply cannot go wrong!

Have a great summer!
