Editor's Letter

September 2008

The holiday season is now over and it’s time to get focused back on business. Autumn’s nail shades are out, so restock your shelves with a palette that reflects the spirit of the time. Subscribers to Scratch will notice an exciting addition to this month’s issue – a free catwalk nail trends publication called Gloss. This new bi-annual title will appear with the September and March issues and will explore the ever-growing network of session techs behind the scenes at Fashion Weeks. Subscribers only will receive this magazine free, however it is also available to everyone else for £4.75. If you would like a copy please call 01959 547 000.

For those out there that get particularly excited by innovative new ways to enjoy this industry –
I can assure you I have two very tempting and thoroughly fantastic articles for you this month.
After much hype and discussion, Marian Newman has invented and developed her own nail polish system. It’s original, highly funky and should be retailed from every salon shelf. Check out the ‘InKredible’ innovation that is water-based polish in a pen as it’s truly revolutionary and just what the industry ordered - make sure you step into this article on page 55.

For my second innovation, the Craft Robo software and equipment is kindly modelled in this issue by Martin John. As seasoned readers will be aware, Martin loves to dabble in gadgets and gizmos as much as possible and this month he has unearthed a beauty! This equipment will open up a whole new world to die-hard airbrush kings and nail queens! Please read pages 42 and 43 for further information.

For techs that like to have a bit of fun, I am once again on the prowl to find the most popular cover from last year - the best cover of 2007. So if you’d like to vote feel free to email me with your choice. The options can be viewed on the Scratch website if you click on ‘Archive’ and scroll down
to 2007.

I would like to end this transmission by introducing a new face to the Scratch editorial team in the shape of Suzie Ball. Suzie takes on the role of junior staff writer, so please feel free to email her directly if you would like a salon or business profile published in Scratch.

Autumn tidings!
