Adele dons Louboutins
Dubbed ‘The voice of an angel’ by no less than Beyoncé, and with sparkling fingertips that looked heaven sent, Adele performed live at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards last week. Bringing back the Louboutin nail (where the underside of the nail bed is painted red – queue nail growing treatments and a rush on acrylic), Adele wore the beautiful sparkling Ciaté Jewel on top of her nails and Ciaté Mistress beneath. On the night the 23 year old star was manicured by UK nail technician Mike Pocock.
Not only did the songstress pick up a staggering six awards on the night – winning every category she was nominated in – she also performed her latest single Rolling In The Deep to a standing ovation.

Fly Fingers
Last week Scratch assistant editor Helena Biggs and features writer Kayleigh Baker checked in at Chancery Lane’s MW Nails. This unique aviation-inspired salon invited the pair to choose a treatment from its airline-inspired menu; services such as the deluxe 90-minute manicure Captains Cockpit, to Shanghai Shape, a simple file and polish.
While relaxing in the themed airline seating, waiting for their appointment, the manicurist secured their baggage in an overhead compartmnent – while they looked on in delight. Essie and OPI polishes were on show for guests to peruse at leisure yet both Scratch journos opted for Two Weeks In Tahiti, which comprised a Shellac or Artistic Colour Gloss two-week manicure.
With four manicure desks and two pedicure chairs creating the scene inside this themed salon space – the techs complement the arena with uniforms in a flight-attendant style with a workwear twist. Polishing to perfection, the techs performed a first-class service, asking questions about nail health and providing excellent homecare and retail advice and recommendations.
Not only does MW Nails have the novelty factor, it also provides a highly professional service including scrupulous hygiene procedures and perfect polishes. Make sure you check in for an appointment and fly over to the salon and experience a treatment yourself.
