Ed's Letter

ALEX-NEW-PIC

I had the privilege of attending the extremely special memorial service held in honour of Tom Holcomb last month in California. It was without doubt a profound experience and one that has certainly changed my life and perspective.

Pleased that I was there in the physical as well as the spiritual, I did find myself acutely connected to everyone in the room. To sit beside industry figures i've known for some time during my nail journey, collectively mourning a great loss, it was clear this was a shift for me. The passing of Tom connected us further and with more sincerity - a new kindness was spread. So many tears were shared, so many beautiful memories recounted as an outpouring of love and respect ensued. It was an authentic experience.

I was deeply touched to see how many Japanese nail professionals had flown across the world to pour out their love - and they did with passion and heartfelt endearment for our Tom. David Daniels, Danny Haile, Tom Bachik, Alisha Rimando Botero, Lisa Boone, Maria de Lourdes Desfassiaux and many others took the podium and delivered their attachment and devotion to our hero tech.

It was clear that the nail world was grieving in unison. So, as Scratch says its last goodbye to Tom Holcomb, i would hope that as you reflect over your last year, as we all do at this time, and ponder the future year ahead, you'll remember the fragility of life. We know not what awaits around each corner, but what we do know in our hearts is that we can wander our path both personal and professional with good intention, love, respect, joy, kindness and forgiveness.

For when we walk this way, we walk in our best way.

Love thy nail neighbour

Happy New Year
