Ed's Letter

ALEX-NEW-PIC

I'm excited and liberated to share with you the power of communication, collaboration and care - that's care for fellow industry figures in this instance.

I'm writing this while on a road trip around California and Nevada in the USA where i merged a holiday with work meetings, family and much pleasure too. For me the power of communication is key to successful outcomes when trying to create on a daily basis. As I enjoy unearthing stories and stunning nail imagery throughout my day, a nail stylist must too be open, available and awake to new ideas in order to create the best for each client, to grow the business in a profitable manner, keep staff happy and enthused while always keeping an eye on the bigger, wider picture that unfolds carefully and slowly. This is what excites me about my working life - watching it unfold, feeling it evolve and sharing in this experience with an industry overflowing with fascinating, exciting and stimulating people - people that I'm more than happy to share precious time with - as it has the same effect on me as when a car is refuelled, gets an oil and filter change then waxed up shiny bodywork. I glow from the inside out!

I am soon to be back in my Scratch office and i will wear a smile from ear to ear when I think of the wonderful journey i've just experienced. I've been charged up with ideas, joined a team of experts to create a cover for a forthcoming issue, have learned so much and feel fired up for the weeks ahead. I really hope you too have networked yourself in this industry - so when you feel a dip in your creativity, your mind gets too busy or you feel uninspired or low - you too can find delicious inspiration in the amazing people that this industry houses. I wouldn't be anywhere else!

And now i will celebrate nine beautiful years of Scratch magazine - nine years of hope, vision, love, appreciation, gratitude, support, strife, beauty, belief, team work, deliverance, focus, passion and AMAZING people - thank you to all who have been on this journey with this and previous Scratch teams - it's the sharing that makes this journey beautiful and makes it work!

Happy polishing...
