I always knew that I wanted to be a journalist but never imagined that I would end up writing for the nail industry. I have to admit that I hadn’t even heard of Scratch when I first saw the job advert and it was only when I saw its follower numbers on social media that I realised it was a big deal!
My very first day was spent at a London trade show and I found it overwhelming to say the least! Not only was I surrounded by lots of professional nail brands that I didn’t recognise, but I also had to get to grips with the concept of distribution companies. But as my time at Scratch continued, I quickly became familiar with the nail industry and soon developed a real affinity for it.
I joined Scratch as editorial assistant and felt extremely proud to be promoted to news and features writer a year later. I have loved writing about individual nail technicians and their stories and have felt very strongly about helping readers to better their business with practical advice that is truly useful. People that are not familiar with Scratch and the nail industry have always said to me that they can’t imagine I have much to write about – if only they knew!
I feel very lucky to have been given some fantastic opportunities in this job role. Personal highlights include interviewing celebrities such as Leona Lewis, Jess Wright and Pixie Lott, and attending seasonal presentations from designers including Vin + Omi, Emilio de la Morena and Sophia Webster. I have been fortunate enough to receive treatments in many different nail salons and have had lots of fun attending press events. I also have to mention last year’s amazing staff trip to Amsterdam in place of a traditional Christmas party – I’m not sure that it will ever be beaten!
I’m very proud of what Scratch has become in recent years and am certain that it will continue to grow from strength to strength. I would like to thank you all for being such loyal readers and I wish you all the best in your careers x
