Denise Strand Nails

We’ve been asking you for your favourite nail designs of 2017!

Denise Strand was inspired by Lucy Fell to create these nails featuring real snake skin – and when Lucy posted them on her own Facebook page, the set quickly became Denise’s favourite of the year.

“I was and am very proud of this set of nails. They were the set where I thought, ‘Yes! I’ve done good!’ I’ve always been a believer that you should remain humble about your work. I strive to learn, to watch fellow nail artists and learn from them. We all work differently and there’s always room to learn new things. This was the set where I thought I’d nailed it. Lucy Fell featured these on her Facebook page and that, for me, was such an achievement in itself.

“Lucy Fell is such an inspiration to me. I’ve been purchasing her glitters and I watch all of her YouTube videos and Facebook Live casts. She originally did a snake skin set and it seemed that nail artists all over the internet exploded. Everyone was dying to try it and, of course, I wanted to. My client came in and requested these by showing me Lucy’s picture, so we tweaked the design and went for it. Lucy herself loved them and featured them on her Facebook pages and also set it as her cover photo for a while. I was truly honoured that I had done her proud.

“I created these nails by sculpting them, using forms and acrylic from CJP. The colours I used were Snow White and Amor capped in Crystal Glass. The glitter and lace is from The Glitter Fairy in Rose Guild, from the Liz Guild collection. Real snake skin was also used, full sanitised of course and none touched the clients natural nail as it was encapsulated in acrylic.

“For me, I feel that this nail design flows really well – it just works in all the right ways! It’s not too much and it’s not too little. My client loved them so much that she got them done again at her maintenance appointment!”
