Bright, colourful and oh-so-fun, Cheryl Garner did not shy away when it came to creating her working environment.

“I became self employed in 2010 after qualifying in 2002,” remembers Cheryl Garner. “I’ve been based at my current salon, Marley Barn Hair & Beauty, for four years now. My client, and also the owner, bugged me for years to work with her so now I have my own little room for my business within the Barn. I have free reign on hours, the work I do and decor.”

Oozing personality, the salon is a reflection of Cheryl’s bright personality. “My business is different from most nail salons because, if you asked my clients, I’m quirky and weird! The space very bright and cheerful and filled with fun things. I love to decorate for every occasion too, which my clients love too; they always have something to look at.

“I love colour and my job revolves that. I don’t believe a nail treatment is a relaxing treatment; it’s meant to be social and fun. My decor reflects that. My client comes in, has fun and forgets any stresses. It’s a win win!”

Qualified in a variety of services and treatments, Cheryl specialises in artistic manicures. “My main thing I’m known for is art,” Cheryl expands. “. I mainly use OPI and have since converting to the brand in 2003, but I also buy all my glitters from Glitterarty.

“I love that I can be artistic on such a tiny canvas which also reflect that person’s personality. When people walk out at the end smiling from ear to ear, it makes my day.”
