Hi Scratch readers!
As I write, we’re on semi-final week, with only four contestants left in the competition. Judging from the vibe backstage, you can tell that everyone is upping their game and wanting to make it to the final. I’m just pleased I can help them relax and think of something other than skating for 45 mins.

This week, we had to choose a nail design to suit not one, but two of their looks – I just don’t know how they learn two dances in one week! It’s amazing.

The first of the day was skater, Alex Murphy, who wore a gorgeous blue glitter eyeliner and so I chose a nail style to match the glitter exactly. I used Salon System Gellux clear Base and Top Coat as my base and a variety of Magpie Glitters in blue, turquoise and navy to complete the look.

Next, I tended to the nails of fellow skating pro, Ale Izquierdo. Her rock chick look was fab and the hair team decided to place green extensions in her hair to complement the accents of green in her make-up. Daily Charm has the most amazing chameleon glitter which looks green/blue and purple in different lights. I love it – it also offers a chrome version for a smoother look. I applied over the GELLUX Black Onyx to make it really stand out!

Finally, I did the nails of the only celebrity female left in the competition; Coronation Street star, Brooke Vincent, who also had a red overlay design to match her outfit.Vanessa Bauer, Jake Quickenden’s skating partner, had a gorgeous feline flick and red lip make-up design this week. Both of her dresses were white I opted for red nails and red foil to really make them stand out. I used the IBD Just Gel Polish in Bing Cherries with Lecente Red Foil on top was was great for speedy nail art.
