It was a busy weekend for the Scratch team, as we hotfooted to Beauty UK. Held at Birmingham’s NEC, we were keen to see some of the industry’s top techs in action and scope out some of the latest product finds.

There were new systems showcased to visitors. The Nail Harmony team were kept busy demoing the new PolyGel system and NSI had brought its new Simplicité PolyDip, along with plenty of dipping systems to explore, including Artistic Nail Design’s Perfect Dip and Cuccio’s offering. Summer shades were out to stun, with brands ensuring their bright collections were on show. Nail art products were as popular as ever, with brands such as Brillbird UK, INK London and Magpie Beauty showcasing their wide range of glittering supplies. E.Mi ensured artistic needs were catered for with a wide array of gel paints, transfers and decals.

Brow and lash services and products still piqued many professionals’ interest, with plenty of brands to visit. I was lucky enough to receive an invitation from The Eyelash Emporium and Graftons International to try one of its lash treatments. Having been pre-patch tested before the show, brand educator, Cheryl Taylor, set about creating a custom look to suit with C-curl semi-permanent classic individual lashes. With the lashes applied one-on-one, the result was a natural looking yet defined finish – all with being weightless and beautifully delicate. The treatment drew a crowd interested in the precise technique required for the lash look and enquired about the training available with The Eyelash Emporium.

On the Scratch stand, readers were able to renew their subscription and take home a goodie bag of variety of great products to sample. The show saw some celebrity visitors too. Semilac UK brought its new brand ambassador, Danielle Lloyd, to the show to add some glamour, while Bradley of X Factor duo, Bratavio, paid a visit to the Scratch stand for a quick snap. Blinged up by Crystal Parade, even Bradley’s nails received the VIP-treatment with sparkling crystals.

We also managed to catch a glimpse of some of the competition action from UK Nail Tech 2017. Scratch columnist, Katie Barnes, scooped first place in the Top Tech Stiletto. We were live from the second day’s award ceremony; you can check out our Facebook video here.

It was a weekend full of new nail and beauty finds!
