After eight weeks of sun, romance and drama, ITV 2’s Love Island 2022 finished on Monday 1 August and saw contestants Ekin-Su and Davide crowned as the winners.

Ella Jarvis, a Bristol-based tech who is a part of The Gossip Nail Bar team, was flown to Mallorca to go into the villa and prepare the nails for the finalists.

“I was offered the job after being recommended by someone who has worked on the show. I’ve spent this year working on my nail art skills and being consistent with posting on Instagram as it’s sort of like an online portfolio. You get back what you put out there,” reveals Ella.

“We had the whole day of the final to get the finalists ready and they moved from hair to make-up and nails throughout the day.

“Everyone involved in the show is really nice and we had a great day. The finalists were very excited.”

Ella explained to Scratch that there wasn’t a set brief for the finalist’s nail looks, and instead they chose their designs based on what they were wearing for the final.

The finalists’ nail looks:

1. Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu

“Ekin-Su wore a very sparkly dress so we wanted to keep the nails fairly classic,” comments Ella. “Davide sat with us while we were choosing and suggested white and gold so that’s what we went with! I used Apres Gel-x Extensions in Medium Square (tapered and shortened slightly) to give a bit of length and the colours were The Gel Bottle Inc‘s ‘Au Natural’, ‘Daisy’ and ‘Vegas’. She also had white toes to match.”

2. Tasha Ghouri

“Tasha wanted something simple and feminine to match her pink dress so we went with a soft boomer-style ombré nail,” says Ella. “We used Apres Gel-X in medium round for length and The Gel Bottle Inc‘s ‘Marshmallow’ for the pink. I then blended a hint of Magpie Beauty‘s white pigment into the ends to create the subtle gradient. Tasha had natural coloured toes to finish.”

3. Gemma Owen

“Gemma is a natural nail queen and we didn’t use any extensions on her as after removing her old enhancements, her nails had grown to the desired length,” reveals Ella. “We used The Gel Bottle Inc’s ‘Teddy BIAB’ with one coat of TGB’s ‘Au Natural’ to mute the pink tone a little. Her look was simple so she wanted to keep it elegant with a nude. I also did her toes to match.”

4. Indiyah Polack

“Indiyah had the sparkliest dress ever so we just had to include some silver in her nails!” states Ella. “I extended her nails using Apres Gel-X Long Square and used two coats of The Gel Bottle Inc’s ‘Au Natural’ before adding a deep white French. After, I chose a swirly design using Sissi Molten Metal which is incredible and matched the dress so well! Indiyah chose a French pedicure to finish the look.”

5. Dami Hope

“Dami wanted a little Comme De Garçon style heart on his ring finger, so I used The Gel Bottle Inc’s ‘Candy’ , BrillBird GO01 and Go02 and a matte top coat to create it.”
