International nail competition, Nailympia has announced that after a two year hiatus due to Covid-19, registration for its 2022 flagship competition at Olympia Beauty, London is open.

In response to the current climate, Nailympia London will host five competitions online in August and eight in its London competition arena at Olympia Beauty  2-3 October 2022.

The online categories are as follows:

  • Runway Nails
  • Reality Nails
  • Invent a Nail Shape
  • Mixed Media Art
  • Flat Art

The live categories to take place at Olympia Beauty include:

  • Gel Polish Manicure
  • UV Gel Tip & Overlay
  • L&P Sculpture
  • Perfect Match
  • The Joy of Nails
  • Salon Nails
  • Stiletto Nails
  • Fantasy Complete Look

Each category has three divisions for techs to compete based on skill and training level:

Division 1 – Novice (no educators)

Students and professional nail technicians that have never participated in any recognised nail competition anywhere in the world. (No educators/ trainers to enter this category.)

Nailympia will accept entrants in Div 1 providing they have not entered more than 2 national nail comps in the preceding 12 months before entering any Nailympia.

Division 2 – Apprentice (educator entry level)

Students and professional nail technicians that have competed, but never won a recognised competition anywhere in the world, but have placed up to 2nd position. All educators must use this as entry level unless they enter the masters – division 3.

Division 3 – Master

Any competitor that has won a world title, placed first in a recognised nail competition of any type or is ranked as a Top Competitor.

Both the online version and in-person competition will qualify towards the Global and Euro cups, and even though the online categories will be judged in August, all results will be announced on 3 October at the awards ceremony at Olympia Beauty.

“The last two year’s events have impacted us all and in the nail community we have learned to nail differently in order to survive,” comments Alex Fox, global director, Nailympia competitions.

“We put Nailympia online to keep it alive, to inspire nail artists to compete in a new way and to continue their nail journey in a different capacity, but nothing beats the buzz on the arena floor, the action and the passion behind the nails that is oozed by the competitors and mirrored in the faces of the judges.”
