Cuccio Educator, Becca Downham decided to launch her own range of cuticle oil pens when the first lockdown hit in 2020 and she found herself frustrated at not being able to work.

“I wanted to try and grow my business even though I wasn’t able to physically do nails. That’s when I had the idea of ‘The Nail Pen’, a product I could use on clients when I returned to work and a product other nail technicians could stock,” revealed Becca.

At the beginning of the process, Becca conducted a lot of research into her product and faced many trials and errors before achieving her perfect product.

“I wanted to launch a collection of six scents so there was one for everyone. The nail pen is jojoba oil infused with vitamin E and a fragrance scent. I found this to be the best formula to keep your nails and cuticles hydrated, conditioned and to improve healthy growth,” commented Becca.

Due to the global pandemic, Becca had to launch her product via Instagram. Since this, The Nail Pen has had an amazing response and Becca has been overwhelmed with orders.

“Starting this journey in lockdown has had its challenges. I was working in the evenings when my daughters were in bed after a day of homeschooling and entertaining them but once I started I was very determined to finish,” said Becca.

Becca hopes to grow the brand and add other products to the range in the future.

“I’m excited to see where the nail pens take me and I’m so excited to use them on my clients in the salon as well as other nail techs using them on their clients.”

“The nail industry is growing rapidly and this felt like my next natural step. What I love about the industry is that more than ever, it feels like we’re coming together instead of working against each other. Since lockdown, the support has changed, it isn’t as competitive and nail techs are working together.”
