Nouveau Skin Therapy

I hotfooted to the prestigious Harley Street, London, on the invitation of Nouveau Skin Therapy, where I was met by Trish Carey, brand manager for A-Lift and Dermatude.

As someone who had never had a facial treatment ever before, I was intrigued to find out more. The appointment saw a combination of two Nouveau Skin Therapy treatments: A-Lift and Dermatude. A thorough consultation took place, where contra-indications and my current skincare concerns and routine was discussed.

The treatment started with Trish removing my make-up and refreshing the skin with the Dermatude Oxygen Boost Cleanser and Toner. “The cleanser is used pre-treatment, and can be used daily, too,” explained Trish. “It keeps the skin pH neutral, while not stripping or adding oil.” A cool, conducting gel was applied to my face ready for the A-Lift machine.

Designed to firm the face and neck muscles and fight the signs of ageing, the A-Lift machine uses microcurrent and nano-current technology to lift, tone and re-energise, delivered by two hand-held units with two prongs.

“The units are self-regulating and sub sensory; they read the skin and change every sixteenth of a second to suit,” explains Trish. “It was invented and is made in the UK. I actually worked very closely with the inventor, so it’s great to have British innovation a part of the machine’s story.”

The treatment was quiet and super soothing. Trish worked across my face in various patterns to encourage lymphatic drainage and stimulate the skin. When that stage was complete, Trish passed me a mirror and straight away I could ready see a huge difference in my skin: it looked smooth, fresh and plumped up. The treatment can be tailored to any skin concerns, and as a stand-alone sees no downtime, too.

Next, it was time to try Dermatude. Trish carefully selected the Pigment Equalizer Subjectable for me and the refreshing serum was applied to my skin, before working the machine’s handpiece across my skin in a circular motion.

The treatment creates microscopic perforations in the skin help to stimulate the body’s natural collagen, while also effectively delivering the ingredients of a specially selected serum to the skin. The hand piece’s needle modules move at a speed of around 150 movements a second, seeing a super effective application method.

Next, a sheet mask was applied and left on to allow the ingredients to soak in. Once removed, Trish talked me through the aftercare. I was advised to drink plenty of water, keep my hair off of my face and change my pillowcase before bed. “Your skin needs the best environment after the treatment,” Trish enthused.

The combination of the two treatments left my skin fresh, plumped up and radiant. I left glowing – and brimming with new skin know-how and knowledge thanks to Trish.
