Jodie Evans, owner of Wales salon, Nail Envy, speaks to Scratch about the journey of building her thriving nail business.
“Nail Envy is designed to feel like a luxurious home-from-home, combining rustic charm with modern elegance,” says Jodie. “The interior features brickwork, warm wood tones and plush velvet chairs – creating a welcoming and stylish space where clients can relax.”
Jodie’s business journey started in 2014 when she qualified at a local academy. She went on to train with esteemed nail pro, Gemma Lambert, and The Nail Team. Initially, she ran her business on a mobile basis, before transforming a log cabin in her garden into a home salon and nail academy.
The pro continued to invest in her own development. “I’ve upskilled with leading brands including The GelBottle Inc, NSI, Bio Sculpture, HW Nail Systems, Lecenté and Elim, and have attended international events, competitions and advanced training programmes in Poland and Budapest.”
As her expertise and reputation grew, so did her client base. “Over time, demand outgrew the space. After discussing it with my husband, we decided it was time to move the business into the local town,” Jodie explains.
“We found a beautiful building full of potential, though in need of renovating. With the support of my husband and daughters, I poured everything I had into creating a luxury ‘home-from-home’ space for clients.
“The salon is thoughtfully laid out with a focus on both function and comfort – from bespoke wooden nail desks to well-organised, visually pleasing storage. Every detail has been carefully curated to reflect quality, professionalism and warmth,” says Jodie.
She continues: “The exterior of the building maintains its historic charm, while showcasing the brand proudly through elegant signage and dressed windows, giving clients an inviting first impression.”
In 2020, Jodie moved Nail Envy to its new location, which recently rebranded as The Beauty Hub @5 Market Street. She now rents rooms to other independent beauty professionals. “I work independently at Nail Envy and Mid Wales Nail Academy, but since rebranding as The Beauty Hub @5 Market Street, a team of beauty professionals has grown,” she says.
Jodie offers luxury manicures, gel overlays and nail extension services. Her go-to builder gels are the NSI Builder Gels and Lecenté Fusion Builder Gels.
Jodie shares her favourite aspect of the salon: “What makes Nail Envy truly unique is the heart behind it. It’s not just a salon – it’s a full experience,” she says. “From the cosy, luxurious décor to the welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere, everything is designed to make clients feel at home.”
She adds: “The fact that it’s also a training academy means I am constantly evolving, learning and staying ahead of trends. It’s a place where creativity thrives, clients feel valued, and other beauty professionals are supported under one roof.
“Nail Envy isn’t just about nails — it’s about passion, community and raising standards in the industry.”
