Scratch Stars 2018 & 2019 One Stroke Artist of the Year, Rebecca Isaac, shares her career journey, nail hers and favourite products…

Tell us about your training…

I started my nail journey in 1993 when I left school and enrolled in a two-year  beauty course at Northampton College. Back then this course only included manicure and pedicure, so I started more specialised nail training with Star Nails. This covered fibreglass nail and acrylic enhancements.

Later, I discovered Nail Artists UK in 2011 when they were exhibiting at Olympia Beauty. Since then, I have trained with Keiko Venner, Hanna Vasko, Kotka Bojana and Krisztina Ujuvari – to name a few!

What is your all-time favourite nail product?

I it would be Orgasmic Paints by Nail Artists. They are amazing as they can be used for all types of acrylic painting and nail art designs. They are particularly good for one stroke as they are super high pigmented and dry quickly, so layering is quick and easy perfect for a speedy salon design. They come in a variety of different colours and they can be mixed to achieve different shades, too. I would say I use them the most out of all my products.

Who do you admire in the industry?

I admire so many people in the industry; all of them with different talents and achievements.

I have a special admiration for Fiona Agnew. I have had the pleasure of working alongside for over five years now. I have watched her journey from educator of Nail Artists in Scotland to distributor of the product range in the UK. Her passion for the industry and education is especially admirable!

If you had to pick one, what nail colour would characterise your personality?

I would pick Nail Artist 27D Gel Coat Gel Polish in 162. It’s my favourite colour from the new Red Velvet collection. I like to think it represents strength, positivity warmth and passion.

What are your next steps?

I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing! I love working in my salon; my clients are lovely and I’m so lucky to have a job that I love.

I would like to do seek out more education to keep upping my knowledge and skills. I also plan to hold more one stroke and nail art too. I want to share my passion.

What is the most exciting thing about the UK nail industry?

The variety of brands and nail technicians that work together to unite it! When competing and working at beauty shows, I have been lucky enough to meet and spend time with like-minded people that share my passion and want to build up and support other competitors, nail technicians and companies! I feel privileged to be a part of it.

If you weren’t doing nails, what would you be doing?

I would most definitely be doing something art-based and creative. I love all things art!
