Creative Claws, Holyhead, Wales

With its fresh and floral décor, it’s eternally spring at Creative Claws. Located Holyhead, Wales, Sophie Pritchard’s business relocated to a new premise at the beginning of the year; seeing a fresh start for the salon.

“Creative Claws was founded around three years ago,” reveals Sophie. “I was renting a small room in a friend’s salon, but a year in I expanded and had my own salon. In January, I expanded further into a bigger premise. I also scooped Nail Technician of the Year for Wales last May at the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards.”

In its new location, the salon sees a flora-inspired theme. “My salon is filled with flowers, ivy and an 8ft cherry blossom tree,” laugh Sophie. “I’ve always known I wanted a garden theme salon; flowers give me a lot of inspiration and I find them calming to be around. I plan to add more as time goes on, including a flower wall to be completed sometime this year.”

To grow her salon’s theme, Sophie called on help. “I am very fortunate to have very skilled family members,” adds Sophie. “They created all my shelves and coffee table from scratch from pallet wood. They also altered my nail desks so that the lamps are fitted inside the desk using a glass panel. It’s freed up so much space on the table.”

The salon is thriving, and Sophie is now looking for new member to join her team. “I have just taken on my first member of staff,” explains Sophie. “I’m the process of starting up an apprenticeship scheme and expanding the Creative Claws team.

“We are a nail salon but do offer facial waxing treatments and lash perming. We specialise in acrylic enhancements and CND Shellac™ manicures but I think what sets us aside from others is our passion for nail art. I’m always willing to try any design! Hand painting flowers and character designs are probably my favourite thing to do. We are always wanting to try new things with nails and aim to give our clients the nails they desire. Nail art is a massive part of what I think makes us unique, we are the only salon in a wide area that can create a variety of designs.”

The décor in turn has become an inspiration for nail art designs, Sophie adds. “With the salon having a strong garden and floral theme, I’ve found it has helped inspire both me and my clients for nails ideas. It also gives a relaxed feel the moment you step in the door.”
