D's Nail Parlour

Located in historic Leek, Stoke-on-Trent, D’s Nail Parlour is a charming addition to bustling market town.

Drawing inspiration from its surrounding, the salon’s décor is harmony with its building’s heritage. “The building was built in 1515 and retains many original features,” reveals owner, Donna Billings. Cosy with its warming wood panels, Donna aimed to create a space equally inviting. I wanted to create a feeling of being in someone’s living room, where customers can have a coffee and chat,” Donna adds. “As many salons are modern, clients always comment on how mine is so different.

“Due to the nature of the Grade 11 listed building, I chose furniture in keeping with that style. Dark wood furniture match the beams and fireplaces and I added soft furnishings to make the space feel more homely. The name of the salon also reflects the style with the use of ‘parlour’.”

Offering a diverse nail menu, Donna has grown a loyal client base. “We offer acrylic extensions, gel polish and manicures, but I specialise in applying enhancements to badly damaged or bitten nails,” Donna says. “We currently use NSI, Glam and Glitz, Swarovski crystals, Artistic Colour Gloss, Gelish, and, more recently, Magpie Gel Polish. We use China Glaze and Morgan Taylor lacquers.”

Having opened in 2013, Donna is planning to grow her business. “I want to continue to expand over the next couple of years,” Donna concludes. “I want to have a strong team of people who are specialised in nail enhancements for meeting client needs.
