Harvey's Nails, Staffordshire

A real labor of love, the newly decorated Harvey’s Nails has been the result of years of hard work and perseverance from owner, Samantha Harvey.

Starting out in the nail industry 12 years ago, Samantha’s career has seen many ups and downs including illness and salon relocations. Despite that, Samantha decided to be brave and take the jump, recently opening Harvey’s Nails. “I made the big decision to open a new salon and this is where I feel my journey begins,” Samatha explains.

Opting for an alternative décor style, the salon drew on the heritage of its surroundings. “I think we have a unique interior design that’s different to any other nail salon I’ve seen,” enthuses Samantha. “We wanted to go for an industrial, vintage theme that also incorporated the local area. We are based in Staffordshire next to Cannock Chase – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – so the use of wood was inspired from that.

“I feel the decor influences the salon in a way that it show we are creative and unique. Both myself and my husband (pictured) designed and built the salon together, we had no outside help, other than the making of the sewing machine desks. My husband built the partition walls and put the reclaimed wood on all of the walls. I helped as much as I could! I upcycled the chairs and re-upholstered them along with doing the wallpaper.”

Currently offering a range of nail treatments, including acrylic enhancements, gel polish and manicures, Samantha’s preferred brands include Nail Harmony, CNDTM, Cuccio, NSI and CJP. Excitingly, the salon is already set to expand. “I hope to employ a beautician in the summer,” Samantha explains. “To meet demand, I want to offer spray tans, waxing, pedicure and other beauty treatments. We are having two rooms built on the first floor of the building.”
