SALON IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Penny Smith, Beautifix

Recently redecorated, Penny Smith at Beautifix has never felt more at home in her home salon. “I set up by myself two years ago after struggling within other salons, I started seeing client in my sister’s old bedroom. There was even a bed in there to start with! Two years later, I have finally been able to redecorate and make the room truly my own. It’s now a place myself and my clients love!

“I absolutely love having my salon in my home. It’s so much easier and I feel that me and my clients are so much more comfortable in the setup. The salon is unique because of its beautiful farmhouse location. I really believe in making the salon a welcoming place. I try my hardest to make the salon almost feel like a home from home and a place that my clients can relax and feel comfortable in while having a variety of treatments.”

Penny currently offers a variety of hand and foot treatments, using products from CND™ Spa Manicure and Pedicure range along with OPI GelColor and lacquer, Gelish gel polish, Lecenté and Magpie Beauty glitters and Moyou London’s stamping line. The salon also offers spray tans, facials, massage, waxing, tints, microblading and eyelash extensions.

The salon is a girly haven for Penny and her client. “I am a lover of all things pink so I definitely knew I wanted pinks in the colour scheme. To ensure the look of the salon was contemporary, I chose blush pink, grey and rose gold as my main colours.

“I am also a sucker for rose gold and marble so knew I needed to have that element in there too. A lot of the furniture items were bought and then upscaled by myself, using rose gold spray paint and marble-patterned sticky plastic. I think it gives a really lovely effect.

“Since decorating the salon a lot of people have been having marble nails! I feel the decor makes my clients feel chilled and makes them forget that they are in someone else’s home.”
