After five successful years in both her home salon and forging her client base as a mobile technician, Sophie Hudd is celebrating the opening of her new salon in Plymouth.

“It’s a big change to now have my own salon and a small team of other techs – Emma and Kim – working with me but I’m loving it so far!” Sophie reveals.

“I saw the space advertised by chance one evening and had the keys within a few days. It was a very quick turn around and me; my partner and my family managed to completely refurbish it all within three weeks with lots of hard work.

“The space is only small but it’s the right size for what I need. I am now able to offer my Magpie Training Courses at the salon instead of hiring other venues which is great. I am so proud of it!”

Small but perfectly formed, the salon now offer Sophie the chance to expand her business – for technicians and clients alike.  “My salon is unique because of the bespoke and custom nail art we offer to clients,” Sophie explains. “My clients love it that they can ask for pretty much anything and it can be achieved; it’s what my salon is known for in Plymouth.

“We offer gel polish, manicure, pedicure, acrylic and hard gel enhancements and nail art of course. My favourite part of being a nail technician when I get to be creative and make my clients happy!

“My salon is also the only Magpie Beauty training venue in the south west. Plus, I will be looking for two other nail techs to join the team in the new year.”

To create Sophie’s intricate nail art designs, the salon uses Magpie Beauty Gel Colours and glitters. “The products are amazing and very high quality,” Sophie explains. “Magpie Beauty is always coming out with new and exciting releases. My clients love the gel colours as they last for so long and the glitters are so sparkly.”

With a new environment to flourish in, Sophie has creating a salon inline with her branding. “My salon theme is floral with coral, with rose gold and turquoise to tie in with my logo,” Sophie explains. “I wanted it to be a fun and cosy environment for both my staff and clients and I feel like that has been achieved. I didn’t want to lose the floral logo as people recognise that so I had to match the salon with it. Both the signage and windows are really bright and eye catching; you certainly can’t miss it when going past.

“The decor has influenced my salon by making it a fresh and fun place to work and to come to for an appointment. For such a small space it now feels bright, spacious and modern. I’m over the moon with it and so proud to call it my own!”
