SALON IN THE SPOTLIGHT: The Beauty Box, Wiltshire

“I originally started my nail business working on mine and my family’s nails as a hobby while I worked as a nanny,” remembers owner of The Beauty Box, Nicola Robbins. “I decided it was time to get some training so I could launch a part time business. I chose to train with Nail Harmony and was lucky to have a fantastic educator on my doorstep. I completed my gel polish, sculpted acrylic and gel polish nail art training.
“I started to offer the service out as a mobile nail technician in January 2014. As the business grew, I slowly trained in new treatments, including Billion Dollar Brows, eyebrow and eyelash tinting, Eyelash Emporium individual eyelash extensions and Just Wax body waxing. I decided to leave my nanny job and take on the business full time.”
After Nicola married and moved into a new home, her business found its place in a specially converted garage. “I was very lucky to have a dad and husband who worked together to convert my garage into a beautiful beauty salon. I opened this year and rebranded my business to suit its new look.
“I absolutely love my salon,” Nicola enthuses, “I feel it’s unique as you get the friendly and personal experience that you get from a at home salon, but in a professional salon environment. I chose the colour grey as I find it very calming and clean. I believe it creates a very peaceful calming atmosphere in the salon I also love how you can add a pop of colour through a display which really stands out to my clients.
“I am so happy I took the lunge and changed my career from nanny to nail technician and have not looked back since!”
