Vicki Horner has worked in the industry for 8 years, gaining her diploma in Nail Technology in 2014.

“I specialise mainly in extensions and anything nail art, I offer anything nails from builder gel manicures to sculpted nails.”

“I am currently setting up a spa pedicure station ready for the summer with all the latest foots scrubs and masks and special treatments,” Vicki explains. “My passion is nail art – there isn’t a design or product I won’t try. I love freehand art and encapsulated designs, from dollar bills to snake skin.

“I will try anything to push the boundaries of the industry. I’m constantly learning new techniques and procedures, buying new products weekly. It’s definitely an addiction, you could never get bored in our industry.”

“At the beginning of 2020, I became an advocate for NSI Acrylic System,” she smiles. “It was the proudest moment of my career, as I’ve worked with their products since I began.

“I love using the Pure Nails gel polish range Halo, the colours and the pigments in them are amazing.”

“My home salon is based in our garden, and has been slowly nicknamed The Nail Den. It was built in October 2021.

“Due to the pandemic and the procedures that was put in place within salons, I lost my place in a salon where I rented,” Vicki reveals. “I also had my little girl in the August of 2020 the decision was made to start working from home.”

“Working around family commitments and childcare was the best choice for me and I love that being a nail tech gave me the ability to do that.”

“Thankfully, my partner and father-in-law was able to make a summer house in to my little piece of nail heaven,” she beams. “My inspiration for the salon came from a set of nails I did previously.

“The fun began for me when I was decorating the salon. It come alive when I was shopping for the paint, I went on to freehand the cow print, making the flower panel was fun and messy and the artificial grass carpet and the neon sign was the finishing touch! I love it, and every time I step into it I still feel the luckiest person ever! I love the black and white with the pink.”

“After all the worrying during the pandemic it’s finally come together. I work on my own in my little den which definitely gives that one-to-one treatment even more personal.

“My clients have been my rock in all of this,” Vicki enthuses. “They have followed me eight miles away from where I was originally based and for that I’m forever grateful.”
