When Marie Holgate finished her GCSEs at 16 years old, unsure what to do, Marie followed her passion and decided to train as a beauty therapist at White Rose School of Beauty in Huddersfield.

“I loved the training, especially the holistic side and I will be forever grateful for my trainers knowledge, support and encouragement,” shares Marie.

After working in various salons upon completing her training but never finding the right fit, Marie took the plunge and opened her own salon in 2004. Despite business booming for many years, due to recessions and lockdowns, Marie made the decision to downsize in 2022.

Now running a home salon which outlooks a woodland area, Marie’s décor takes inspiration from nature and uses tones of green, white and black with gold accessories to decorate the space.

“I love nature, it’s good for the mind and soul and I think it is of great benefit for clients to have their nails done whilst looking out on to trees, birds and if we are lucky blue skies. It’s that hour or two break away from life to just breathe and be pampered,” shares Marie.

Offering manicures and pedicures using OPI, The GelBottle Inc and CND ™ Shellac, Marie comments how she prefers working alone to be able to create treatments best suited for her clients.
