Previously working in other salons since 2015, Wendy Jayne Buttery took the plunge to open her own home salon in July 2021. “I always wanted my own little space to do up, matching it to my nail art style.

“My home salon is perfect for me and my clients. I wanted them to walk in to an experience – not just a place for nails, but for it to be fun, relaxing, calming and creative.

“I have tried my hardest to achieve this and I’m very happy with it,” Wendy reveals. “We only had a small back garden for the salon, but there is plenty of room with access from the back making it very easy for everyone.”

“I have no plans to expand at the moment,” she shares. “I feel this is me now, I’m so happy in my home salon. I love working for myself, it gives me time to really focus on my clients.

“Being a home based salon means clients can come to me, and not worry about seeing anyone else if they don’t want to, and it’s private with easy parking.”

“I try to mainly concentrate on gel nail art, and clients come to me because of this,” Wendy smiles. “I will give anything a go and sometimes I surprise myself.

“I also can’t resist trying something new, if someone is looking for specific nail art I will buy certain nail supplies to get ready for it.”

“I offer gel polish, builder gel, and acrylics, although I have converted most people from acrylic to builder gel now – it’s been a game changer.

“I specialise in nail art of all types,” she notes. “I would say a favourite of mine is rainbow ombré nails, I love trying to get that blend as smooth as possible.”

“I have really tried to stick to a certain style of décor based on my brand – ombré pastels,” Wendy explains. “The first nails I did were an ombré pastel green into pink.

“I can’t remember how many of those nails I did, but the theme stuck and everyone loved them, so I had my business cards similar and then the décor worked around that. I still love it after all this time.”

“The décor of my salon creates a calming chilled and creative atmosphere and feeling.”

“My décor consists of dreamy pastels with iridescent pieces, and I had to have a neon sign of my logo to match – it’s not a nail salon without one!” She laughs. “The décor is my favourite dreamy nail style as a room, which all goes with the style.

“I love to pay attention to the little details and I think that comes through in both the décor of the salon and my nail work.”
