Step inside the nail salon & academy by the sea on the Isle of Wight

The Gel Art Academy is the passion project of Rebecca Evans, a tech with a love for nail art and education.
The cosy salon is located in Rebecca’s home on the Isle of Wight and provides the ultimate relaxation spot for clients. “The space used to be the utility room at the back of my home,” Rebecca says. “I rarely used the space, and with its separate toilet and entrance, I knew it would make the perfect place to create my home salon.”
A lot of love went into creating the space, and Rebecca remembers months of juggling DIY projects – made all the more complicated with her toddler running around!
Speaking of the aesthetic of her salon, Rebecca comments: “The design I have gone for is minimal, cosy and warm with a few pops of colour coming through in accessories, soft furnishings and wall art. I chose this because it was a clean look, while still creating a cosy and inviting environment.”

Rebecca’s goal is to create a feeling of calm and relaxation for her clients. The salon is located a short walk from Appley Park and beach, and a lot of clients ‘end up taking a walk down to the seafront after their appointments’.
Rebecca offers gel polish, builder gel and pedicure services, with her most popular treatment being a builder gel manicure with detailed nail art: her favourite service to carry out.

Rebecca has qualified in massage therapy, facials and education and has set up her own academy attached to the salon. The Gel Art Academy offers one-to-one nail, facial and massage courses – online and in-person – for those wishing to advance their careers in the beauty industry.
