Scratch Stars Social Media Star of the Year finalist 2024 and 2025, Hannah Clayton, shares how batch creating content has changed her life…

Social media is a job in itself. As a nail artist, mentor and content creator, I’ve often found myself scrambling in the morning to think of something to post, edit a caption or find the right photo. All of this while making lunches, grabbing a coffee, feeding the dog and everything else that comes with the morning rush! But this past year, I’ve taken a different approach: I batch create my content a week in advance.

Batch creating content means setting aside time once a week (or in focused bursts) to plan, write and schedule your posts in one sitting. It might sound like a lot, but the payoff has been worth every minute.

By taking a few hours at the start of each week to organise my content, I’ve given myself the gift of time and peace of mind. I now don’t wake up in a panic, trying to figure out what to post. It makes me feel so empowered!

One of the biggest benefits of batch creating content is being more present – not just online, but in real life. Because my posts are scheduled, I’m now able to spend more meaningful time with my friends and family, be more focused during appointments and enjoy my own peaceful moments, without constantly checking my phone.

I’m still showing up consistently on my social platforms, but without the pressure of being in ‘content creation mode’ every day.

Planning ahead has also made my content more purposeful. Instead of posting just to fill a gap, I have time to think about what my audience really need. I can share tips on nailcare, business boundaries and highlight how you can work with me in a natural, organic way, without sounding ‘salesy’. I also reuse some of my older content: photos, reels and even captions that have done well in the past. This saves me time and reminds me that I don’t need to reinvent the wheel every time I post.

Batch creating content has allowed me to step into a more professional and sustainable rhythm with my marketing too. It’s reminded me that showing up online should support my business – not stress me out.

If you’ve ever felt burnt out by social media, I can’t recommend this approach enough. A little planning can lead to a lot more peace – and a lot more presence, both online and offline. My mentor students have also changed their lives by doing this!
