Charlotte Walton ventured into the nail industry with passion and purpose, qualifying with Izabelle Hammon in 2008. Over seven years, she built her client base from her home studio before making the leap to owning her own salon.
Cutie-cals, Charlotte’s beauty space in Solihull, is now celebrating a decade of success, creativity and client loyalty.

“Before it became my salon, the building used to be a newsagent’s and needed a complete renovation,” reflects Charlotte. “I took a huge risk to make it happen, but it was the best risk I ever took,” she smiles.
Cutie-cals aims to be a space of calm and relaxation, with a ‘modern-luxe feel’. The décor combines ‘soft neutral tones with warm lighting and natural textures’. “I opted for herringbone wood floor to add warmth and sophistication, while the Venetian plastered walls and sleek built-in shelves create a contemporary, high-end look,” Charlotte notes.

“Touches of greenery and delicate décor like an orchid, soft furnishings and the ‘Hello Beauty’ neon sign create a welcoming vibe,” she adds. “The overall aesthetic is clean, stylish and calming – the kind of place that instantly makes clients feel comfortable.”
The beauty salon offers Calgel manicures, extensions and pedicures, and IBX nail strengthening treatments. “I have used Calgel for 17 years,” Charlotte says. “It’s a system that has never let me down.”
Alongside herself and one other nail technician, Charlotte has a team of five beauty pros offering specialisms including facials, massages and make-up services. “Cutie-cals is not just a workspace; it’s a community where the team loves what it does, and clients can feel that energy.”

Charlotte notes the journey that led to such a well-rounded beauty salon: “Every part of Cutie-cals reflects my journey, courage and passion. I’ve grown from a home salon to a business with 10 years of history. I didn’t just open a salon; I built it from the ground up.”
Mentioning the salon’s community, Charlotte emphasises: “My consistency, care and the trust I’ve built with clients is something I am so proud of. I wanted to create a salon space where clients aren’t intimidated and feel instant calm and at home, able to vent or sit in silence while enjoying their treatments.”
Among Charlotte’s initial career goals were becoming an educator for Calgel and running her own training academy. This year, she moved towards this aim in a huge way, completing her Level 3 AET teacher training, and she will be offering Calgel courses by the end of the year.
