Do you seek financial clarity, advice and solutions for your business? Vicki Boddice has set up Boddice Accounting to offer just that – and she focuses on small business owners, health and beauty pros.

“I worked in the financial sector for 16 years specialising in insolvency, so I witnessed the errors people would make with their companies,” Vicki explains. “In 2020, like so many, I experienced severe mental health issues and became unable to maintain my job. During this time, I trained as a nail tech, which I found so therapeutic and relaxing, and in April 2021, my friend and I set up a nail bar.”

A brand ambassador for Sparkle To Perfection, Vicki has spent many hours chatting to fellow pros and has noticed that many needed accounting support. “This sector has given me so much support and without it, I would not have recovered as far as I have,” Vicki admits. “I wanted to offer my support back and relieve some of the stress other pros were experiencing, so brushed up on my bookkeeping skills and got a licence from the Association of Accounting Technicians in June.”

Boddice Accounting was set up just one month later with a focus on bookkeeping and payroll needs, so techs can focus on their passion. Working from her home in Falkirk, Scotland, Vicki prides herself on a personal, clear service and can often be found working between nail clients.

“Regardless of the size of a business, a bookkeeper can be so useful. It’s important to me that people feel valued and my goal is to provide every business with a personal, empathetic and efficient service, while also saving them money.”

Vicki sets her clients up with an accounting system based on their business needs, and then the client simply sends on receipts and updates on sales. “I send clients monthly reports on how the business is doing, and can highlight any potential issues before they happen in many instances,” Vicki adds.

“For businesses with employees, I can run full payroll, issue pay slips, calculate holidays and report to HMRC to make sure all PAYE and National Insurance is paid on time. Generally, my packages start at £80 a month and clients can expert a truly personal service from a professional who understands the industry.”
