Bethany Anne Denby, who is based in a hair studio in Bradford, reveals her steps to success and future goals.

When and why did you choose to become a nail tech?
I initially went to college to study beauty therapy but when I was introduced to basic acrylic nails in my NVQ level 3 course I was hooked from then on. I decided to further my education in nails and studied for a level 3 diploma in nail services which really opened my eyes to what the nail industry had to offer. My tutor Karen introduced me to nail art and from that moment I knew I had found my niche.

What do you love about your job role?
I love how creative I can get with my clients’ nails. To know that my clients come to me for a unique set of nails that they know will make them feel special leaves me very proud. I love my job because every day I am doing something different and improving as I go along. It really is my passion.

What is your brand of choice for enhancements and overlays?
I use CJP Nail Systems. It is an absolutely amazing product and so easy to work with. I have been using this system for about a year now and I just love everything about it.

What is your brand of choice for nail art products?
I love using Crystal Nails for nail art. They have such a wide range of acrylic powder shades and they are super pigmented so brilliant for 3D work.

How important is regular nail training to you?
Very important! The nail industry is moving fast and if you don’t keep up with the latest trends you get left behind so I attend as many courses as I can to stay in the know.

Who has had the biggest influence on your career?
I would say the person that has had the biggest influence on my career is my nail tutor, Karen. She recognised my potential very early on and constantly pushed me to go further in my career. Karen introduced me to everything I know so I have a lot to thank her for. My mum has helped me so much with my business and I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for her help and support.

What is your greatest career achievement so far?
My biggest achievement so far is winning the title of Top UK Tech at Nailympia London 2016. Before this was announced I had won 3rd place in the Stiletto Nails division one category but had left shortly afterwards. I never expected to win something so special so it was my greatest achievement.

What are your future career goals?
I would like to compete in as many nail competitions as I possibly can to get my name out in the nail industry and hopefully win some more awards. Eventually I want to open up my own training studio where I can help other nail technicians around West Yorkshire.
