Jenny Nagorski 300

Jenny Nagorski discusses her nail career and reveals how it felt to be chosen by Sweet Squared and Lecenté to create designs with their products.

When and why did you choose to become a nail tech?
I have to give credit to my parents for this. They know I’ve always enjoyed everything arty and bought me a nail kit as a birthday present around 15 years ago – from that day I was hooked.

What is the best bit about your job?
Being able to give clients confidence. They come to me with their hands in their pockets or up their sleeves and leave practically waving them in the air for the whole world to see. Plus I get to play with glitter every day.

What is your most popular nail service?
I would say it’s 50/50 between CND™ Shellac natural nail manicures and L&P enhancements.

What do you love about CND™ and Lecenté products?
I love that both brands are all about providing nail techs with the best possible products. Using CND™ Shellac with Lecenté products allows me to create the most beautiful nails in no time at all, and gives my clients the wow factor.

How did it feel to be approached by Sweet Squared, distributor of CND™, and Lecenté and asked to create nail designs with their products?
I felt honoured. It’s human nature to be your own worst critic so to have that kind of validation of my work meant the world to me.

In what ways has this opportunity benefitted your career?
I live in a rural location and it’s definitely widened my client base.

What have you done to ensure the regular development of your nail skills?
I’m always researching and looking for new techniques and spend most of my free time experimenting with different designs and combinations.

What advice would you give to a newly trained nail tech that is just starting out in the industry?
Try different designs in your spare time and practice whenever you can. Then when your client is in front of you, you will have the confidence to create any design she may choose.

Whose nail work do you admire and why?
There are so many amazing nail techs out there but to name a few…
Liliya Sereditskaya – I love her one stroke work
Amanda Trivett – her work is always so beautiful and original
Fee Wallace – I love Fee’s tutorials. She’s so innovative and happy to share new techniques with everyone
Tony Ly – his work is just flawless

What are your future career ambitions?
To just keep doing what I do – working on nails really is my passion and never feels like work.
