Scratch chats with Phoebe of Pheebs Nails, a talented tech with a love for natural nails, about her experiences and time in the industry.

“As far as my industry inspirations go, it’s hard to choose, because there’s way too many talented techs to choose from,” Phoebe beams. “A couple of my favourites would have to be @nails.bab or @sojinails.

“Nails Bab is super talented – I particularly love her mix and match sets she’s doing at the moment. Sojinails’ designs are so unique and different to any other design I’ve seen, and she does a lot of amazing 3D nails which I would love to have a go at properly.”

“The most exciting part about the nail industry to me is how quickly it’s growing.

“I think it’s really exciting how more people who would previously have only gone for plain sets of nails are now experimenting in the world of nail art,” she enthuses. “I think it makes people feel good about themselves and also gives them a sense of individuality they wouldn’t usually get from a plain colour set!”

“If I could change one thing, it would be how some people, but obviously not all, perceive nails within the beauty industry,” Phoebe shares. “Most people factor hair or lashes into their monthly budget, but to an extent nails are still viewed by some as more of a luxury or a treat.

“Of course, being able to afford all these things is a luxury in itself, but I don’t understand why getting a fresh set of nails is often seen as more extravagant than getting your roots redone.”

“My favourite designs are ones that are more patterns, rather than an actual image, because you have more artistic freedom to do what you want, rather than copying something that someone else has created.

“For myself, I prefer more minimal nails with lines and swirls,” she reveals. “But you can’t go wrong with a classic flame!”

“I’m hooked on nails because no two nail art ideas are the same,” Phoebe acknowledges. “Even if two people want the same or even a similar design design, they both have completely different visions for how they want it to look in their head – there’s no limit to what you can have, and it meant each set is unique!

“For me, this makes it really exciting and means things are constantly changing and evolving.”

“Without a doubt, my favourite product would have to be The GelBottle Inc’s Builder in a Bottle in the shade Teddy.

“I have Teddy on my nails at all times and it makes them so strong and long,” she smiles. “I could not survive without it for sure. And for an added bonus, it’s such a pretty colour on its own!”
