Diana Pajeva, of Diana’s Nail Art, revealed that reds are increasing in popularity as Christmas draws ever-closer.

“With the upcoming holiday season, red is becoming more and more popular among my clients. The colour red adds some brightness and pops against dark winter colours. It’s also the colour that goes with everything when the client is not sure what outfit to choose for her Christmas night out – I guess that’s why my clients opt for this colour over and over again!

“These particular nails were created for my client who works in the whisky industry. She was travelling to the north of Scotland as she had organised some behind the scene tours of whisky distilleries that aren’t usually open to the public and was also co-hosting a Balvenie whisky tasting with Edinburgh Whisky Blog. Based on all of this, I think the red and black combination was a good choice.

“My client went for the Hot Rod Red shade by Gelish and I used one of the nude tones from The Gel Bottle Inc for the accent nails. The chandelier nail art was created using a 00 size brush and black gel paint from E.Mi. To add an edge to this look, I went for a matte top coat.

“I just love a combination of bright red and black. When working with these two colours, I believe you need to be very careful not to overdo it. Black and red is quite avant-garde and daring, as well as chic and sexy. So, finding a balance is a must when you opt for this combination.”
