What are your thoughts on industry competitions? Why are they so important?
I believe you need tenacity when entering competitions. I also think they are a great way of learning from your mistakes if you do not get the results you anticipated. It is also a great way to find like-minded people.
If you do not win, do not be disheartened. Go back with a positive attitude, mind set and approach, understanding why you did not win before.
Competitions are important as they keep standards high with participants and judges. Everyone should engage in CPD no matter what your status is.
How did it feel to win The Great Scratch Shoot Out 2019?
It felt like it was the icing on the cake and was a great accolade for all the hard work and dedication I have put into all areas of my industry.
I encourage others to enter to experience the feeling of support from the Scratch family and to be more of a recognisable figure in the industry. Plus, it’s an honour to be published in a world-renowned nail magazine.
How has the competition aided your career?
The competition has enabled me to have a larger and more recognisable presence throughout the UK regarding my training facility. It has allowed people to get to know who is behind Nina Lewis training.
