From passion to profession: the Wiltshire home salon known for nail art

Tina Annal began her nail career in 2014, starting with an online nail course then completing an NVQ in Nail Services at a local beauty academy.

As an independent home-based tech in Hilperton, Tina has carved out many spaces of her house over the years to cater to clients: starting in her lounge then progressing to a screened-off section of a bedroom. Finally, she transformed her spare room into a salon space.
“My daughter flew the nest three years ago,” says Tina. “When the spare room became free, I decided to turn it into something beautiful for my clients.”
Tina describes her salon, The art of Nails – Nail artist, as a ‘relaxing environment with pops of pink enhancing the sense of beauty’. She describes the space’s eye-catching cherry blossom tree as a unique feature, and how she has matched the pink furniture.

Having built her nail product collection over the years, Tina proudly displays her gel polishes on a shelf built by her husband, and a magnetic board holds her array of pigments and glitters. “I also have all my nail art practice tips displayed in folders; these act as fantastic inspiration for clients,” she says.
“It took many years to build my collection, and I am insistent on keeping up with trends so that I can always achieve what clients want,” Tina continues.

Tina’s on-trend nail art attracts a multitude of clients. “My salon is located in a small village in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, but clients travel quite a distance to see me, which I am amazed by!” Tina grins. “My nail art is what keeps people coming back. I pride myself on the detail of my hand-painting and love nothing more than having a tiny brush in my hand, working on a masterpiece.”
The art of Nails – Nail artist offers L&P acrylic and gel polish services, as well as nail art. “I mainly use CJP Nail Systems and Madam Glam Gel Polish,” Tina reveals. “My clients are pleased with the retention and have commented on how long-lasting their nail looks are.”
Looking to the future, Tina is excited to expand her expertise into education and also aims to enter the world of nail competitions. “My goal would be to win a big award like a Scratch Star,” Tina smiles. “I would also love to share my years of knowledge with others, and am looking forward to the possibilities that the future holds.”
