“I felt so privileged and couldn’t believe it when I received a message from Chloe Kelly about creating nail looks for some of the England squad,” says the owner of Zürich salon, Lulu’s Nails. “I tended to the nails of Ella Toone, Alex Greenwood, Alessia Russio and Chloe Kelly: all of whom wanted The GelBottle Inc’s BIAB™ (Builder In A Bottle™) to form the base of their designs.

“They normally choose the formula for their manicures and swear by it – as do myself and my clients. The GelBottle Inc (TGB) is the best nail brand I’ve used, as it’s up-to-date with trends and regular collections keep my salon fresh and clients happy.”

Dzastina continues: “Ella Toone tends to opt for red nails – sometimes pink when she wants something different. She came to the salon with red nails, and I created another red overlay using bright TGB Gel Colour, Ketchup. It matched the England kit perfectly!”

Dzastina notes that Alex Greenwood picks a different bright nail colour at each manicure appointment. “This time, she chose pastel green gel polish, Away, from The GelBottle Inc. It was refreshing to see, as people can be scared to choose colour in the current ‘clean girl era’ – including myself,” she details.

“Alessia Russo likes a classic French manicure and chrome finish, and her visit to me was her first time having coloured French tips,” Dzastina reveals. “My favourite nail look to create is a French mani, and we chose gorgeous butter yellow, TGB Gel Colour in Queen Bee, with Iced Chrome Pigment over the top.”

Dzastina adds: “Chloe Kelly wanted a summery look, so I created a cute swirl design using TGB’s Queen Bee shade and baby pink hue, Powder.”

The talented tech originally lived in Essex, before moving to Zürich and opening Lulu’s Nails, which is named after her daughter. “I studied a Fashion Design degree in London and worked as a visual merchandiser for a few years, but found this wasn’t fulfilling enough,” Dzastina explains. “I always enjoyed doing mine and my friends’ nails as a teenager, and one day I decided to become a nail tech, convincing my local salon in Essex to train me. I ended up staying there for three years, then moved to Zürich.

“Opening my own salon was a dream for a long time, so it was rewarding to watch it come to life,” she continues. “Lulu’s Nails is a cute, feel good-place. I love colour, paintings and plants, as well as being creative and focusing on attention to detail. I wouldn’t change my job for the world.”

As well as creating nail looks for England’s Lionesses, Dzastina shares that working at iconic London nail art studio, WAH Nails, is a career highlight. She also mentions having a Jaded London jeans-inspired design recognised by the brand. From these experiences, the pro reveals her top career lesson: “Confidence is key when it comes to nails, and is needed to do a perfect job. If you’re not confident at something, practice until you are!”
