Colour focus, Step by Step

Add a geometric edge to your nail art with this aztec-inspired design from Scratch Stars Award-winning, Jo Wickens.

Step 1
Prepare the natural nail ready for sculpting. Remove cuticle from the nail plate, file the free edge with a 240 grit file, and remove the surface shine with a 180 grit file.
Step 2
Cleanse and dehydrate the nail then apply bonding agent, Light Elegance Tack, to the nail. Apply thinly with firm pressure then cure for 30 seconds in your LED lamp.
Step 3
Apply a nail form in the correct shape and angle for a pipe shape. Apply Light Elegance Natural Fiber gel using an Oval Brush to the natural nail and extend the free edge of the nail to create a pipe shape extension.
Step 4
Flash cure for three to five seconds in your LED lamp, then use a pinching tool to pinch the nail, followed by applying a pinching clip to hold the C-curve as it cures for the full 30 seconds in the LED lamp.
Step 5
Use Light Elegance Soft Pink Extreme gel to build the structure of the nail. Cure for 30 seconds in your LED lamp.
Step 6
Cleanse the nail. File the free edge shape and refine the nail surface using a 150 grit file, followed by a 180 grit file. Buff to remove any surface scratches to create a smooth surface.
Step 7
Apply Light Elegance White Gel Paint to the whole nail. Cure.
Step 8
Create an abstract design to one half of the nail using black gel a and a Light Elegance Stripey brush. Cure for 30 seconds in LED light.
Step 9
Use the Light Elegance Shorty brush with None Of Your Beeswax colour gel to paint in parts of the design. Cure for 30 seconds in your LED lamp.
Step 10
Apply Light Elegance Super Shiney to the whole nail taking. Once cured for 60 seconds in you lamp and allow to cool before cleansing the nail.
Step 11
Apply Light Elegance Flat Matte to the design half of the nail. Cure for 60 seconds in your LED lamp and then cleanse.
Step 12
Use the Light Elegance Shorty brush and Top Gloss to paint in parts of the design. Sprinkle Silver Sugar over these parts and then cure for four minuites in your LED lamp. Finish by brushing away any excess glitter.
