Frightening funhouse fingertips: Halloween nail art tutorial
Seasonal & Occasions, Step by Step
This playful twist on Halloween by Simu of @simlynail offers a spellbinding mix of spooky and stylish. Frightening funhouse meets Halloween glam, featuring shades from Mii Cosmetics’ Cosy Up With Mii collection.
Simu crafted the design using Mii Colour Confidence Nail Polish.
You will need:
- Base coat (Simu used Mii To Have + To Hold Base Coat).
- Nude polish of your choice.
- Bright pink metallic polish (Simu used Colour Confidence shade, Berry Glaze.)
- Dark blue shimmer polish (Simu used Nightfall.)
- Dark purple créme polish (Simu used Purple Elderberry.)
- Emerald green créme polish (Simu used Evergreen Bright.)
- Glossy top coat (Simu used Mii Shine + Shield Top Coat.)
Step 1
Prep the nails and apply base coat. Once dry, paint a layer of nude polish and allow to dry.
Step 2
On the index fingers, use a bright pink metallic polish and thin nail art brush to paint curved lines from the centre of the nail to the edge. Then, fill in the shapes created to form a candy swirl design.
Step 3
Once dry, use a dotting tool (Simu used Mii Cosmetics Neat + Tidy Nail Art Dotting Tool) to place a dot of dark blue shimmer polish in the centre of each candy swirl.
Step 4
Using the dark blue shimmer polish, create French tips on the middle fingers. Once dry, use the bright pink metallic polish and a thin nail art brush to create a starburst shape just below each French tip. Then, using a dark purple créme polish, add a smaller starburst towards the lower left of the nail.
Step 5
When dry, use the dotting tool to create dots in varying sizes using the dark blue shimmer polish and dark purple créme and emerald green créme polishes.
Step 6
On the ring fingers, use the dark purple créme polish and a thin nail brush to paint two parallel lines diagonally from each side of the nail. Fill in every other diamond shape to create a checkerboard look.
Step 7
Once dry, use the dotting tool to add spots in the negative space diamonds using the bright pink metallic polish.
Step 8
On the pinky fingers, use the dark blue shimmer polish and a thin nail brush to create two exaggerated curved triangles meeting in the middle of the nail.
Step 9
Once dry, use the dotting tool and bright pink metallic polish to add a dot where the two curved triangles meet, and two more dots above and below using the emerald green créme polish.
Step 10
Once the designs are completely dry, apply top coat to achieve a glossy finish and lasting protection.
