Step by Step

Abby Sams of NAF! Salon created this magical Marrakesh-inspired design. “When I think of Morocco I think of the souks – and the tiles, jewellery and terracotta that can be found there,” says Abby.

Step 1
Over a white base, use a dotting tool to map out the centre of your flower and the tips of your petals to make sure everything fits on the nail. Cure.
Step 2
Use Lecenté striper brush in S1 to complete the petal shapes. Cure.
Step 3
Add dots to complement the petals and cure.
Step 4
Draw half-circles on the borders of the nail and cure.
Step 5
Add petal shapes in the semi circles to add detail. Cure.
Step 6
Fill the white space with more navy dots and a complementing khaki shade. Cure.
Step 7
On the next nail, start with a white base. Map out a grid with your Lecenté striper brush in S1. This will help keep the proportions of your repeat pattern even. Cure.
Step 8
Use the Lecenté detail brush in D1 to draw the curved diamond shapes.
Step 9
Continue to complete the nail with the pattern.
Step 10
Top coat when complete to finish the design.
Step 11
On the next nail, paint a base of The Gel Bottle Inc shade, Icelandic Summer, and cure.
Step 12
Dab on The Gel Bottle Inc shades, Diva and Tan, in in a random pattern.
Step 13
Pat the nail to blend the colours together.
Step 14
Draw some squiggly white lines in gel polish. Pat them until they blended in and cured.
Step 15
Draw veins in a dark brown tones
Step 16
Blend the brown tone.
Step 17
Top coat the design.
Step 18
If desired, use an LED curing resin to secure a variety gems into place.
