Teal Tortoiseshell

Animal print, Colour focus, Step by Step

Salon System nail expert, Julie-Anne Larivière, created a teal tortoiseshell look using Gellux…

Step 1
Prepare the nail for gel polish application. Apply Gellux Fast Bond to nails and allow to dry. Apply Gellux Easy Off Base Coat. Cure.
Step 2
On a piece of foil, add a 10p-sizes blob of Base Coat. Add in one small drop of Gellux I Sea You and one slightly bigger of Gellux Surfs Up. Mix it all together to create a sheer blue shade. Apply a very thin layer of the sheer blue using a gel brush, cure.
Step 3
Apply some random patches of Gellux Catchin’ Waves to the nails leaving enough negative space in between the patches, do not cure.
Step 4
Apply Gellux Black Onyx to the area you just applied Catchin’ Waves on but be sure to offset the placement of the patches, so they are not directly on the previous patch. So not cure.
Step 5
Using a gel brush blend the edges of the patches. Cure.
Step 6
Apply another very thin layer of the sheer blue over the entire nails. Do not cure.
Step 7
Apply more Black Onyx to the patches you created earlier. The trick is to apply in even smaller patches, so the first layer is still visible. Next, dip your gel brush into a little Catchin’ Waves and blend the patches. Cure.
Step 8
Apply another very thin layer of the sheer blue, do not cure.
Step 9
Apply another very small amount of Black onyx over the patches, leave it a few seconds to allow them to blend naturally then once you are happy with how they blended, cure.
Step 10
Apply No Wipe Top Coat to all nails, cure. Then using a small brush apply some Chameleon Chrome flakes to random areas of the nails. Gently pat them with a lint free wipe or clean flat brush so they stick to the nails properly. Apply Shiny Top Coat to the ring finger, cure. Wipe with Prep&Wipe and apply NailLUX oil.
