Dancing On Ice: Nail Designs – Week 5

Maddy Rooke, celebrity nail technician, reveals the backstage antics and nail looks from ITV’s Dancing On Ice…

The lovely Jane Danson sadly left last week’s Dancing On Ice. She was great to work with and I’m glad she got to have a nice mani before she left.

Skater, Brandee had a gorgeous make-up design with ombré purple to pink lips and yellow liner. I decided to recreate the lip design on the nails using Salon System Gellux minis in Berry Burst and Flirty Fuchsia. I used a touch of iridescent glitter with a golden yellow tone to it to compliment the liner.

To create the nail look, I placed the darker shade at the cuticle to the middle of the nail and then the pink shade from the middle of the nail to the tip. I then blended using my striping brush in a wiggle motion, set and repeat until I achieved the desired ombré effect. I then placed the glitter on top and set it with two coats of the Salon System Gellux Clear Base/Top Coat to ensure it was super smooth.

Fellow skater, Vanessa wore a gorgeous lilac and nude dress with hints of blue, so I used the Salon System Gellux mini in Bon Bon which has a gorgeous blue shimmer throughout. To emphasise the blue, I used the Daily Charme Star Dust chrome powder in Sapphire. It complimented the shade so well.
