Financial technology company, SumUp, has analysed over one million anonymised payment transactions across 12 of Britain’s cities to reveal where in the UK people spend the most money to look good.

The transaction data shows the people of Edinburgh are spending the most on beauty treatments, splashing £39 on average every time they visit a beautician, barber or salon.

The full list of cities and how much they spend per average transaction reveals:

  1. Edinburgh – £39
  2. London – £37
  3. Glasgow – £33
  4. Newcastle – £33
  5. Leeds – £32
  6. Liverpool – £31
  7. Cardiff – £30
  8. Manchester – £30
  9. Belfast – £29
  10. Bristol – £28
  11. Sheffield – £27
  12. Birmingham – £26

The findings also found that the busiest day for beauty is Friday and the most money is spent in July. On the other hand, Sunday is the quietest day and August is said to be the least popular month.
