Skin Cancer Awareness Month

Educate clients on the importance of protecting their skin by sharing the Protect and Check campaign from UK skin cancer charity, Skcin, and the Sun Protection Campaign from UK trade association, Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA). Spread awareness by promoting Skcin‘s and CTPA’s resources. Skcin also offers MASCED and MASCED Pro training: online courses designed to help professionals spot the early signs of skin cancer in clients. Get involved here.

7th: World Maternal Mental Health Day

This day is dedicated to raising awareness of maternal mental health across the globe. Help support the cause by offering a themed treatment or package to clients who are mothers. Upload photos of these treatments and use the hashtags #MaternalMHMatters and #StrongerTogether.

10th: Trust Your Intuition Day

Created to encourage people to listen to their inner voice and trust their instincts, this is the perfect day to unleash your creativity! Why not ask clients if they’re happy for you to take full creative control of their manicure – and livestream the process on your social media pages?

10th-18th: National Doughnut Week

Businesses are raising money for The Children’s Trust by selling an ever-popular sweet treat: doughnuts. Post doughnut-themed manicures to your social media account and tag @nationaldoughnutweek, encouraging clients to share and/or donate to the cause.

12th-18th: Mental Health Awareness Week

Since 2001, the Mental Health Foundation has led this campaign encouraging people across the UK to prioritise their mental health. This year’s theme is community. To highlight the importance of positive, supportive environments, why not host an evening for clients or fellow nail techs to network and connect?

Alternatively, take part in Wear It Green Day to support the cause on Thursday 15 May. Ask staff to wear green outfits or manicures, and post a group photo to your social channels to help raise awareness.

12th-16th: Water Saving Week

This campaign by Waterwise shares tips to help UK individuals and communities save water, and calls on them to complete three daily tasks in the event: share a water-saving commitment via a downloadable graphic, share an impact infographic and complete a simple water-saving task. Campaign assets can be downloaded here and used with the hashtag #WaterSavingWeek2025.

22nd: Sherlock Holmes Day

Celebrate the world’s most iconic detective with some mystery and intrigue! Create a scavenger hunt on your social media: post a carousel of images with hidden clues, inviting followers to solve the mystery for a chance to win a prize. You could also incorporate classic murder mystery symbols into nail art and post these in the lead-up to the occasion to inspire themed manicures.

30th: National Creativity Day

The nail and beauty industries thrive on creativity and artistry – so what better day to celebrate your craft? If your social media audience is mostly clients, invite them to draw their desired manicures on paper. Share their sketches and your final nail designs side by side. If your audience is primarily fellow professionals, launch a nail art competition. Set a theme, invite submissions and have entrants tag your account for a chance to be featured.
