Bbco Advisory Board Sylvie Macmillan

The British Beauty Council (BBCo) has appointed a new cohort of industry professionals to its advisory board.

The 10 experts, who are from the make-up, nail, fragrance, hair, aesthetics and tech sectors, join the existing 70 board members, in preparation for the launch of a new membership programme. They will bring increased industry insight to the Council and enable it to formulate a cohesive roadmap for its next growth phase in 2025.

The advisory board helps to raise awareness of the BBCo’s work and provided insight into the diverse opportunities and challenges within the beauty industry.

Session nail stylist, Sylvie Macmillan, has been appointed to represent the nail industry and wrote on Instagram: “I’ve really put a lot of work into getting people to understand the value of nails – the value they add to a production or the wellbeing they provide to a client. The value is vast, the nail industry is gargantuan, so why am I so often defending it? People sometimes think my job is a hobby, even people who work in beauty which is disappointing.

“The @britishbeautycouncil does so much important work lifting up voices in the beauty industry, and giving us the data we need to show the vast value it holds. Can’t wait to work with them!”

Also joining the advisory board are make-up artists, Isamaya Ffrench and Lucy Bridge; hair stylist, Neil Moodie; lash and brow expert, Shavata Singh, and fashion editor & stylist, Kate Phelan.

Rounding off the new cohort are beauty tech founder & COO at Re:New Beauty, Claire Aggarwal; aesthetic expert, Teresa Tarmey; consultant dermatologist, Dr Alexis Granite, and perfumer, Azzi Glasser.
