An Ipswich-based beauty therapy student has placed 3rd in a UK-wide search for the nation’s top up-and-coming stylist.

Create the Look, hosted by business insurance provider, SME Insurance Services (SMEi), called on budding hair stylists, make-up artists, beauticians, and nail technicians from across the UK to showcase their most inspired creations, highlighting the nation’s new emerging talent.

Amber Coates, aged 18, is a student at Suffolk One College and works part-time at Revolution Beauty Clinic, Ipswich. Still training in acrylic and gel extensions, gel manicures, and nail art, the student scooped 3rd place.

“I really enjoyed creating this look,” Amber enthused. “As a beauty therapist and nail technician I use my artistic talents to fit each client’s needs and I can’t wait to continuously develop my skills for the future!”

Lance Breakwell, a trainee make-up artist from Wolverhampton, took first place, while third place went to  Eric Joey Jones, a hairdressing student at Hugh Baird Liverpool College, with make-up by fellow student Bethany Sanders.

The three winners were selected from a public vote of a shortlist of the most creative and inspiring hair and beauty entries. Three expert judges also chose their favourite look, comprising Jodie Withers, editor of Good Salon Guide, Emily Hunter, editor of Beauty Magazine, and Katherine Louise, makeup artist and blogger.
