The National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) has scooped the gold award for Best Communication(s) During Covid-19 at the Covid Response Awards.

The awards pay tribute to the resilience, resourcefulness and tenacity shown by corporate and non-commercial organisations’ responses to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the efforts put in by organisations in such an uncertain and unprecedented time.

The NHBF is the UK’s largest trade body for the hair, beauty and barbering industry and the membership organisation has provided essential support to its members and the wider industry throughout the challenges of the pandemic.

It distributed accurate and aligned messaging, including through its Membership Helpline. The NHBF also created a Covid Crisis team with its external PR agency, reporting and advising based on facts to become a trusted source for the industry.

The trade organisation’s communication with the UK government helped lead to the creation of a dedicated Personal Care sector team within the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in 2020, saw salons receive up to £18,000 in a Back to Business Grant in line with hospitality, and helped bring about a joint hair and beauty re-opening date in April 2021.

The NHBF’s commitment to supporting those within the hair and beauty sector during the pandemic has been recognised with previous accolades: the silver award for Best Covid Response at the National Association Awards and the bronze award for Best Covid-19 Crisis Response at the Association Excellence Awards

The Covid Response Awards were judged by an esteemed panel of industry executives from a wide range of market sectors.
