Prepare your business for the month of November with our roundup of dates to note…
All month: Movember – Men’s Health Awareness Month
A global movement that raises awareness and funds for men’s health issues, Movember is a portmanteau of ‘moustache’ and ‘November’ and involves men growing moustaches for the month.
Aside from nurturing new facial hair, money can be raised in a plethora of ways. Why not encourage clients to have a moustache mani and donate a portion of the profits to Movember?

5th: Bonfire Night
Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night and Fireworks Night, is an annual celebration that commemorates the failure of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot. Communities often gather to watch firework displays and light bonfires, creating colour and spectacle.

11th: Remembrance Day
11th November commemorates the end of the First World War and honours those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The day of recognition is marked by a two-minute silence at 11am. Red poppies are known as the symbol for remembrance, evocative of the flowers that bloomed on the battlefields of World War I.

12th: Blue Wednesday
While November is Mouth Cancer Action Month, 12th November is Blue Wednesday: a dedicated moment of awareness which encourages people to ‘pause, reflect and act’. The day is a reminder that looking after your health is paramount, and a 45-second mouth check could save lives.

13th: World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day is an observation day ‘promoting goodwill, empathy and acts of kindness’. First introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, the day offers an opportunity to perform random acts of kindness, as well as raise awareness of the good that kindness inspires.

25th: White Ribbon Day
An annual day of observance to raise awareness and call for the elimination of gender-based violence, White Ribbon Day is organised by White Ribbon UK – a charity dedicated to ‘engaging men and boys to prevent violence against women and girls’.
The event is a chance for individuals to ‘pledge never to use, excuse or remain silent about violence against women’. Awareness activities that nail and beauty businesses can get involved in include donning white ribbons, hosting educational events and fundraising.

27th: Thanksgiving
Celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the United States and Canada. The day focuses on celebrating the harvest, alongside being thankful for the good things the past year has brought. Many people prepare a turkey feast, with pumpkin and pecan pie for dessert.

28th: Black Friday
Black Friday marks the day after Thanksgiving, and traditionally denotes the start of Christmas shopping season. Many companies offer discounts and offers, so it is worth looking out for savings from your favourite suppliers!
Additionally, some nail and beauty businesses engage with Black Friday by offering their own discounts or treats for clients.
