Important September dates for your nail & beauty business
By Jess Watts | 27 August 2025 | Business, Events, News

Get your business prepared for the month of September, with our roundup of dates to note…
1st: Ginger Cat Appreciation Day
Ginger cats are widely regarded as the most affectionate of our feline friends; they have been dubbed ‘velcro cats’, requiring a lot of attention and love. While seen as very sweet, ginger cats have also gained a reputation for being clumsy and less smart than their other-coated counterparts, and ‘orange cat behaviour’ has come to signify goofiness. Celebrate the uniqueness of ginger cats and encourage clients to try a silly, fun design, or simply observe the day with cat eye products for a feline vibe.

1st-5th: Zero Waste Week
Zero Waste Week is a campaign aiming to significantly lower waste and raise awareness of the environmental impacts of rubbish. The Zero Waste Week website says: “Every year, millions of people all around the world commit to reducing their landfill waste for a week during September – saving money, preserving resources and having fun in the process.”
Prioritise preserving the environment by making small changes in your salon that will make a big impact. Head to the ‘How to join in’ page of the Zero Waste Week website for free resources and advice.

12th: Stand Up to Cancer Day
Though the 12th is recognised as such, there is no singular Stand Up to Cancer Day, as everyday charities and campaigns around the world raise awareness and money for medical advances and help those affected by cancer. Aside from showing support for these campaigns, beauty pros and businesses can offer safe, supportive places for people to unwind and relax, without judgment or questions.

13th: International Chocolate Day
While World Chocolate Day is celebrated in July, International Chocolate Day falls in September (because one can never have enough chocolate appreciation days, right?). The 13th honours the birthday of Milton S. Hershey, founder of the Hershey Chocolate Company. As chocolate brown colours are set to be huge this autumn (with Pantone’s Colour of the Year being Mocha Mousse), why not use International Chocolate Day to encourage clients to try the warm, delectable hue?

22nd: Autumn Equinox
As the summer draws to a close, we are inching closer and closer to everything autumnal – including the rise of seasonal nail designs. The Autumn Equinox symbolises this shift, and, according to Heart of England Forest, ‘marks the descent into the darker days of winter […] from this point onwards the nights grow increasingly longer than the days’. Get your clients autumn-ready by embracing the upcoming nail trends and relishing those cosy autumnal vibes!

22nd-28th: Recycle Week
Organised by national recycling campaign for England and Northern Ireland, Recycle Now, this event celebrates and encourages recycling the right things more often. It is now in its 22nd year and uses the hashtag, #RecycleWeek, to share information, educate and inspire. Recycle Now‘s aim is to build a nation where recycling is the norm, and it works with brands, retailers, waste management companies, local authorities and Government to bring about change.

25th: National Daughter’s Day
This is a chance to celebrate the daughters in your life, and to cherish the love and strength of familial bonds. Encourage clients to celebrate their daughters by treating them to a dose of self-care, for example via parent-daughter pamper packages.
If matching manis are what your clients want, here’s some inspo.
